Virginia “Margie” Martin Buff, 89, of Morganton, NC, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026.

Born in Alto County, Georgia on April 10, 1937, she was the daughter of the late James Olive Martin and Pearlie Mae Marlow Martin.

Virginia was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She retired from Henredon Furniture, and she enjoyed playing the guitar. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and her grandchildren referred to her as “Hot-Rod Granny.” She will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Sheila Roland Stulls (Donald), Cheryln Ann Woody (Rev. Douglas), and Becky Dawn Buff (Rodney Huskins); step-sons, Larry Buff (Lily) and Richard Buff (Linda); step-daughter-in-law, Anita Buff; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Ralph Martin.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, James Daniel Buff, son, Billy Buff; brothers, James Martin, Jr. and William Roy Martin; sisters, Mozelle Toney, Nell Thompson, Elwena Hogan, Christina Martin, and Lorena Toney; and step-son, Jerry Buff.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Wayne and Kathy Stulls for their compassionate care.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Terry Robinson and Rev. Doug Woody officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
