Agnes "Mawmaw" Biddix Autrey

Agnes “Mawmaw” Biddix Autrey, 93, of Morganton, NC died Friday, August 8, 2014 at her residence. Born in Mitchell County, NC on October 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Charlie G. Biddix and Lockie Belle McGee Biddix. Mawmaw was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Ladies Class. She was a caretaker all her life and loved gardening and flowers.

Agnes is survived by her children, Roger Autrey and his wife, Cindy, of Morganton and Carole A. Cox Fairchild and her husband, Frank, of Glen Alpine, NC; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Autrey of Morganton; grandchildren, Jessica Marshall and her husband, David, Shawn Autrey, Robert Cox, Rodney Cox and his wife, Lisa, Brian Cox and his wife, Jackie, Charles Autrey, Jr. and his wife, Lara, Melessa Liebzeit and her husband, Ryan, Crystal Sigmon and her husband, Chris, and Cathy Bowman; and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Autrey was preceded in death by her husband, Claude E. Autrey; sons, Charles J. Autrey, Sr. and Claude Autrey, Jr.; a grandson, Joseph Autrey; four brothers; six sisters; son-in-law, Bobby L. Cox; and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Burkemont Baptist Church with Dr. David Mills and the Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. The graveside service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Berry Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Spruce Pine, NC. At other times the family will be at Mrs. Autrey’s home. Memorial contributions may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church, 4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
