Al Carswell, 54, of Rob Carswell Street, Morganton, NC, died Saturday, October 21, 2006 at his residence following a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on December 22, 1951, he was the son of Irene Lambert Carswell and the late Roy Carswell. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Lee Carswell, Jr. Al was a member of Carswell Memorial Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Cooper Carswell of the home; a daughter, Christena Blankenship and husband, Scottie, of Morganton; a grandchild, Shelby Blankenship of Morganton; his mother, Irene Carswell of Morganton; two brothers, Rick Carswell of Morganton and Wayne "Buster" Carswell of Lenoir, NC; and three sisters, Sue Smith of Craig, CO, Diane Carswell of Morganton, and Teresa Dellinger of Morganton.
The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, October 23, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Raleigh Burnette officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
