Alan R. Scott, 74, of Morganton, NC passed away, July 10, 2021. Born in Orlando, FL, on November 6, 1946, he was the son of the late Newton and June Scott. He retired from Burke County Public Schools after 31 years in 2002, serving first as a teacher and coach at Glen Alpine, later as an administrator at Oak Hill, East Burke Middle, and Freedom High School. He was President of the Tar Heel Association of Principals and Assistant Principals. Always the greatest planner, he and his wife traveled to all 50 states, 46 countries, took 23 cruises and many camping trips to races.
He is survived by his wife, Dede Scott; son, Shane Scott of Apex; granddaughter, Claire Scott; brother and sister-in-law, Newton and Sandra Scott of Haw River; niece, Christy S. Wood of Haw River.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
