Albert "Bert" Eastwood

Albert "Bert" Eastwood, Sr., 79 of Valdese, NC, formerly of the Oak Hill Community, died Wednesday, January 3, 2013 following a period of declining health. He was born in River Head, NY on December 14, 1933 and was a son of the late George Herbert Eastwood and Amelia Dare Eastwood Harris. Bert was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was owner of Eastwood’s Service Center & Glass Repair Specialists and was a member of Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217.Bert is survived by his daughter, Susan Eastwood Smith and husband, Bruce; a son, Bert Eastwood, Jr. and wife, Melissa; grandchildren, Mason and Eric Eastwood all of Morganton; and a special friend, Sophia Kenyon of Valdese.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Joan Whisnant Eastwood, and by brothers, Roland and Lemuel Eastwood.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.
