Committal
Alea Kathleen Stamey Taylor, 40, of Morganton, joined her grandparents on Thursday January 25th, 2018, after living a full and happy life. Alea loved children, spending much of her free time volunteering as a Lunch Buddy with Catawba County Schools and with her 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Sunday school class. She held a special place in her heart for her "Rock It Church" children's group at First Assembly of God (FAM) Church.
Alea was born May 27th, 1977 in Morganton, NC and graduated from Freedom High School in 1995. She attended Catawba Valley Community College obtaining an Associates in Arts degree. Alea was employed by Catawba County Emergency 911 as a dispatcher. On her days off, Alea could be found at her son's, Christian and Jakob baseball or soccer games, happily cheering them on.
After a long and courageous seven-year battle with breast cancer, Alea's struggle came to an end while she was surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her parents, Earl and Reba Stamey of Morganton, her two sons, Christian Stamey and Jakob Taylor, both of whom she was very proud, her sister Shanda Stamey Woody husband, Eric, nephew Aaron and niece Lindsay, and her Tennessee aunts and cousins. Alea is also survived by aunts Maxine, Ilene, Charlotte, and Kathy as well as her cousin Kim, whom she always admired, also her FAM church family with whom she had a special bond.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Morganton First Assembly of God. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. in the church with Pastor John White officiating.
