Alfred Wilson Orders, 89, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Born in Burke County, NC on November 17, 1926, he was a son of the late Jonas Leroy Orders and Lula McGalliard Orders.
Mr. Orders was a member of Asheville Street Baptist Church. Alfred was an US Army WWII veteran serving in Italy. He was employed at Great Lakes Carbon Corporation for over thirty-three years.
Mr. Orders is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Zula Walker Orders; son, Jack David Orders and wife, Eva; and grandson, Khem.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Orders was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Orders.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Asheville Street Baptist Church. Mr. Orders will lie in state at the church Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Rev. Doug Goforth and Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will conclude at Burkemont Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by NC National Guard and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
