Alice Frock Fairchild

Alice Frock Fairchild, 74, of Morganton died Friday morning, March 27, 2009 at Burke Palliative Care Center in Valdese following a period of declining health. She was born November 5, 1934 in Carroll County, Maryland, and was a daughter of the late Jennings V. Frock, Sr. and Beulah V. Keefer Frock. Alice was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church and a retired employee of Broughton Hospital with 30 years of service. She loved dancing, bowling, watching birds and butterflies, and playing Scrabble. Alice was a loving mother and grandmother.She is survived by a son, Brian L. Fairchild and his wife, Kim, of Fairbanks, Alaska; a daughter, Karen F. Suttles of Morganton; a special friend, Kevin Ross of Morganton; a brother, Kenneth K. Frock of Shippensburg, PA; sisters, Audrey Fair and husband, Jim, and Betty Austin, all of Taneytown, MD, Ruby Leese and husband, William, of Westminster, MD, and Doris Hansbrough of Union Bridge, MD; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heidi Jean Suttles; and brothers, Paul Richard Frock, Stanley Frock, and Jennings V. Frock, Jr.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Cross officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour before the service.
