Allen Coffey

Allen Coffey, 55, of Coffey Lane in Morganton died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at his residence. He was born July 31, 1954 in Prince George, MD, and was a son of Phyllis Bennett Coffey of Morganton, and the late Henry Ray Coffey. Allen was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Ray Coffey. Allen was of the Baptist faith. He was very concerned with the needs of other people, and served 5 years on the Board of Human Rights Committee at Broughton Hospital. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as gardening, and taking care of both plants and animals in his environment. Allen dearly loved his family.In addition to his mother, Allen is survived by a brother, Clifton Coffey, a sister, Christina Coffey, and a nephew, Daniel Dolinger, all of Morganton; and two great nephews and two great nieces.Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, June 25, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
