Allen Lee Bristow, Sr., of Catawba County, NC, passed away on March 17, 2025, after dealing with multiple health issues the past 10 years. Allen was born on November 6, 1951, to parents, Robert Bruce Bristow, Sr. and Lillie Truman Thompson Bristow in Aberdeen, NC.

After high school, Allen joined the Army and served from 1972-1979. When his enlistment was up, he was very happy to return to his home state of North Carolina of which he was so proud.

Allen, like all, had his ups and downs, but he would give you the shirt off his back and go without one if you needed it. He loved all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

One thing Allen was definitely proud of was being a Bristow, he loved his family very much.

Allen is survived by his children, Allen Bristow, Jr. Crystal McElwayne, David Bristow, Tony Mundy, Kimberly Bolden: grandchildren, Brenden Bristow, Blake Bristow, Todd, Anissa, Katlyn, Nathan, Taylor, Bryson, Jacob; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Elliot, Josie, and Mikiya; brothers, Mack Bristow (Jan) and Henry Bristow; sisters, Ann Jackson, Margaret Bristow (Todd Farmer), and Alice Dotson; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Bristow; his parents, Robert B. Bristow Sr. and Lillie T. Bristow; son, Richard Bristow; brothers, Kenneth Bristow and Robert Bristow; sisters, Betty Bristow, Connie Greer, and Geneva Hensley.

There will be a graveside service at 12pm, Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. We ask you to celebrate your love for him in your own way.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there. I did not die.

The family is asking for no flowers or gifts to be sent, but if you can help with the cremation at all it would be appreciated very much.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
