Alma "Pauline" Barrier

Alma "Pauline" Barrier, 93, of Jonas Ridge, NC passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Born in Burke County, NC on April 24, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Azor Barrier and Charity Augusta "Gussie" Henson Barrier. Pauline was a lifelong member of the Jonas Ridge United Methodist Church and retired from the Avery County School System where she had served as a lunchroom cashier for over 20 years.Pauline is survived by her daughter, Sheila Barrier and her husband, Virgil, of Jonas Ridge; a son, Johnny Ray Barrier and his wife, Bette, of Jonas Ridge; grandchildren, Shelly Henry and her husband, Eric, of Greensboro, NC, Trey Barrier of Jonas Ridge, Jennifer Hudson and her husband, Eddie, of Jonas Ridge, and Cindy Chapman and her husband, Ty, of Morganton, NC; and great-grandchildren, Rusk Henry, Evan Chapman, and Clint Manuel.In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Woodrow Barrier, and eleven siblings.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2013 at Jonas Ridge United Methodist Church with the Reverends Terry Duckworth and Keith Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Jonas Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of the daughter, Sheila Barrier.Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
