Alma Young Ogle, 78, of Valdese, NC died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Levine-Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC following a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on February 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Young and Lela Cline Young. Alma was a member of Connelly Springs First Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Saft America in Valdese and was an avid gardener and quilter.Alma is survived by her son, Rev. A. Wade Ogle, Sr. and wife, Susan, of Huntersville; sisters, Coleen Franklin of Icard, NC and Ruth McRary and husband, Jack, of Rutherford College, NC; grandchildren, Alex Ogle and wife, Jennifer, of Mooresville, NC, Sam Metcalf and wife, Sarah, of Hickory, NC, Jeff Ogle and wife, Ana, of Fletcher, NC, and Wade Ogle, Jr. and wife, Lori, of Morganton; and seven great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her husband, John Dwight "J.D." Ogle; a brother, Virgil Young; and a sister, Louise Icard.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Hallyburton and Rev. A. Wade Ogle, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
