Alva Kincaid Miller

Alva Kincaid Miller, 85, died Thursday, August 28, 2008, at Britthaven of Morganton. She was born in Burke County, NC on December 27, 1922 and was a daughter of the late James Henry Kincaid and Mary Jane Bean Kincaid. Alva retired from NCSD where she was a vocational education teacher, and with her husband also owned and operated Miller Upholstery. Mrs. Miller was a charter member of both North Morganton Baptist and El Bethel Baptist Churches.Surviving are her children, Jerry Miller, Randy Miller and his wife, Candace, and Roger Miller and his wife, Barbara, all of Morganton, and Sharon Miller of Charlotte; grandchildren, Cynthia, Jaime, Brent, Bobbi, Jacki, Cameron, Jason, and Trevor; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Cecil Kincaid; and a sister, Elizabeth Conley.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Cameron Andrew Miller, and a number of brothers and sisters.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008, at El Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverends Ron Cooper and Kenny Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday one hour before the funeral.
