Amanda N. Whisnant

Amanda N. Whisnant, 93, of Morganton died Monday, February 24, 2020.  Born in West Virginia on June 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Zula Norman.  Amanda was a faithful member of North Morganton United Methodist Church where she worked with the pre-k and taught Sunday school.  She was a member of the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Whisnant is survived by her daughter Norma Roberts (Robert); a very special niece, Carolyn Norman Williams; nephews, Justin Williams (Holly), Cody Williams (Kaitlin), and Jim Blankenship; a great-niece, Faye Williams; and caregivers, Carolyn Beaver, Becky Burns, Ruth Ray, Michelle Wellman, Angie Holman, and Sheree Blankenship.

In addition to her parents, Amanda was preceded in death by her husband, Ned McClendon Whisnant; brothers, Fred, Willie, and Woodrow Norman; and a sister, Elizabeth Murphy.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2020 at North Morganton United Methodist Church.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Burt Williams officiating.  Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.  At other times the family will at the residence.
