Amy Culberson Brinkley, 91, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017. Amy was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Annie Gibson Culberson; her husband, Clyde Samuel (Sam) Brinkley; and her brother, Dick Culberson.
Amy was a long term resident of Valdese and Morganton, NC. She was active in the First Baptist Church in Valdese and sang in the choir and for numerous weddings. Not only a homemaker, Amy worked for WHKY in Valdese, at Western Piedmont Community College, and in the family business, City Oil Company. She was dedicated to her family and was a most proud mother of two US Marine Corps officers.
Mrs. Brinkley is survived by her two sons and their wives, Randy and Susan Brinkley, and Sam and Janice Brinkley; grandchildren, Kristen Brinkley, Stephen Brinkley, and Chad Brinkley; great grandchildren, Kelly Laydon, Samuel Laydon, Jack Brinkley, Kate Brinkley, Grace Brinkley, Avery Brinkley, Chandler Brinkley, and Prestyn Brinkley; her sister, Frieda Burts; and her nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, January 28, 2017 in the chapel at Burke Memorial Park (2506 Burke Memorial Park Road, Morganton).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Semper Fidelis Fund (semperfifund.org), 825 College Blvd, Suite 102 PMB 609 Oceanside, CA 92057.
