Andrew “Andy” Merle Chapman, 69, of Newland, NC passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 27, 2020 in Jonas Ridge. Born on June 2, 1951, he was the son of the late Merlie and Helen Chapman. Andy was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and a graduate of Oak Hill High School. He worked at Wamsutta Mills, Great Lakes Carbon, and several places in Gainesville FL.
Andy is survived by his sisters, Kaye Taylor, and Joanne C. Beck and husband, Jerry; niece, Erin B. Miller; nephews, Gregory Beck, Derek Beck, Wesley Taylor, and Nathan Taylor; a great-niece; and several great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Andy is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Larry A. Taylor
There will be a private memorial service for the Mr. Chapman.
The family would like to say a special thank you to his aunt, Beatrice Chapman; cousin, Gary Burns; and also the staff at Jonas Ridge Adult Care who took care of Andy for 25 years and Jonas Ridge Baptist Church which provided him with gifts and love offerings.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that a memorial donation be made to Jonas Ridge Baptist Church at P.O. Box 86, Jonas Ridge, NC, 28641.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
