Andrew "Andy’ Wilson

Andrew "Andy’ Wilson, 88, of Morganton died Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC on June 28, 1924, he was the son of the late S. E. Wilson and Gertrude White Wilson. Andy was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII, having served in the south pacific. Andy worked as a Burke County Sheriff Deputy for 16 years and retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Company.Andy is survived by his wife, Loree Duval Wilson of the home; a daughter, Tyra Wilson Jones of Morganton; a son, Darren Wilson of Morganton; grandsons, Ellis Wilson Martin and Andrew Tyler Martin; and sisters-in-law, Inez Wilson and Katherine Wilson.In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by two brothers, Winston "Sonny" Wilson and Charles Wilson; and three sisters, Virginia Warlick, Edith Hope Wilson, and Sue Widenhouse.A celebration of Andy’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Dr. John Fowler officiating. Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard. Andy’s cremated remains will be buried on his family farm at a later date.
