Ann Ward McGalliard

Ann Ward McGalliard, 88, of Morganton, and a former Drexel resident, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Morganton Long Term Care following several years of declining health. She was born May 13, 1922 in Burke County, NC, and was the daughter of the late William Leith Ward and Hettie Elizabeth McGalliard Ward.She was a member of Drexel First Baptist Church.Ann is survived by a son, Bill "Billy" McGalliard of Jonas Ridge and formerly of Drexel; a grandson, Matthew Blake McGalliard and his mother, Robin Ramsey Berthalot; and a brother, Charles Ward and wife, Penny of Morganton.In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Francis H. McGalliard; and brothers, Joe and L. A. Ward.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Tito Madrazo officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
