Anna Jean Carpenter Woodie

Anna Jean Carpenter Woodie, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 24, 2015.  Born in Avery County, NC on July 30, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Staples Carpenter, Sr. and Bertie Benfield Carpenter.  Anna was a member of Zion Baptist Church.  She loved her church and her church family.  She always had a beautiful smile and was very giving and kind to others. Mrs. Woodie enjoyed listening to Bluegrass Music.

Anna is survived by two daughters, Linda Huffman and her husband, Danny, and Donna Franklin and her husband, Robert “Cob”, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Chanda Lovelace of Morganton, Holly Huffman and her husband, Abe, of Huntington Beach, CA, and Leslie Benton and her husband, Brian, of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Colton Rodriguez, Dylan Brittain, Makaley Lovelace, Sebashton Benton, and Chanze Benton; a brother, Bob Carpenter and his wife, Minerva, of Stony Point, NC; sisters, Dora Day and Betty Mills and her husband, Mike, of Pyatte, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Woodie; and two brothers, Staples Carpenter, Jr. and Glenn Wesley Carpenter.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Rose and the Rev. Mike Mills officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
