Annie Grady Dale, 100, of 138 Mimosa Hills Drive, Morganton, died at Grace Heights on May 1, 2007 following a brief illness. She was born in Morganton, NC on December 13 1906. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Simpson Grady and Leonia Lowdermilk Grady. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Horace James Dale, her son, James Norman Dale, five brothers, Jim, Will, Frank, Thomas and Edward Grady, and two sisters, Leola Oxford and Rosa Wall. Annie was retired from the North Carolina School for the Deaf, where she was a supervisor for Goodwin Hall Dietary Department. Following her retirement, Annie played the piano for the choir and chapel services at Western Carolina Center and traveled with the choir when they were performing. She was a member of Asheville Street Baptist Church, where she played the organ and piano until 1995. Annie played for various churches for seventy-five years, having studied under the late Harvey Turner.Surviving is one daughter, Patricia, and husband George Baily of Morganton. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law Luna Dale, granddaughter Kathy Morrison and husband, Jack, and a grandson Rev. Chris Leonard and wife Debbie. Annie has four great grandchildren.A private graveside service will be held at Burke Memorial Park at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 3, 2007. A Memorial Service in Thanksgiving of her life and in Celebration of the Resurrection will be held at the Asheville Street Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday with Rev. Doug Goforth and Rev. Chris Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the Memorial Service in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Asheville Street Baptist Church Music Program, 107 Colony Dr., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
