Annie Mae Chapman Burns

Annie Mae Chapman Burns, 90, of Morganton, NC entered Heaven’s gate on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at her residence.  Born May 19, 1928 in Burke County, NC she was a daughter of the late John Chapman and Dalzie Kincaid Chapman.

Mrs. Burns was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  She retired from Broughton Hospital.  Annie Mae enjoyed crafts of all kinds and wood carving.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lee Burns; granddaughter, Mitone Griffith; and brothers, John Tellis, Roy Lee, Hersel, and Moran Chapman.

Mrs. Burns leaves behind her children, Beverly Cooke and husband Fred of Mount Airy, NC, Gary Burns of Morganton, and Robert Lee “Bobby” Burns, Jr., and wife, Karen of Amarillo, TX.  Also surviving are granddaughters, Kelly Hansmann and husband, Tony, Carmen Grillo, and Cara Idoll; great-grandchildren, Rafe Hansmann, Isabella and Bryce Wegener, and Lacy Griffith; great-great-granddaughter, Alexis Zotto; brother, Merlie Chapman; and sister-in-law, Bea Chapman.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Bethel Baptist Church on Pax Hill Road.  The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Jeff Lane officiating.  Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
