Annie Pearl Cordell

Annie Pearl Cordell, 82, of NC 18 South, Morganton, NC died Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Valdese Hospital following a period of declining health. She was born September 5, 1925 in Burke County, NC, and was a daughter of the late James Ambrose Willis and Josephine Sain Willis. Annie was a US Navy veteran (WAVE) of World War II. She was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church, and a former employee of Shadowline.Annie is survived by sisters, Lillie Willis Cline of Charlotte, NC, and Grace Biggerstaff of Newton, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Lee Cordell.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2007 at Mt. Home Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 until 2 pm at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church Graceful Giving Fund, 2272 Mt. Home Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
