Ardie Mae Norman

Ardie Mae Norman, 85, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Shaire Center in Lenoir.  Born in Burke County, NC on February 1, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Horace Perry Benton and Annie Mae Buff Benton.

Ardie is survived by her son, James Harrison Norman and his wife, Hazel, of Morganton; daughters, Judy St. Clair and Shirley Cobb, both of Morganton; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Loy Benton and his wife, Pat, of Morganton.

In addition to her parents, Ardie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Thomas Norman; a brother, Junior Benton; a sister, Fern Norman; an infant brother, Clarence Benton; and an infant sister, Ethel Benton.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2014 in Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Jack Moses officiating.  Burial will follow in Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

At other times the family will be at the home of the son, James Norman, at 6758 Jenkins Road, Morganton.
