Arlene Baker Watts Rowell, 87, of Hickory, NC passed away Friday, May 17, 2019. Born on January 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late McKinley and Ruth Baker.
Arlene was a member of Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church. She loved to garden, can foods, and make quilts. Arlene has made over 300 quilts for her family, friends, church members and new babies over the past 38 years.
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Paula Watts Watson of Granite Falls, NC, Judy Watts Taylor and Susan Watts McCall, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Dawn Wilkinson of Catawba, NC, Sam Reep (Kelly) of Rutherford College, NC, Eddie McDevitt (Lili) of Waco, TX; brothers, James Baker of CA, Ray Baker of AL, Yates Baker of Morganton; sisters, Diane Roger of TX, Millie Brittain of Morganton, Nancy Causby of Rutherford College, NC; and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Marion Rowell; son, Greg Watts; and numerous siblings.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held in the church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Dale Faulkenbury and Associate Pastor Paul Deal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contribution may be made to the Senior Stars at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church.
