Arlie R. Saunders

Arlie R. Saunders, 96, of Hoyle Street, Morganton died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 following a period of declining health. He was born in Montgomery County, NC on March 2, 1913 and was the son of the late John and Naomi Strider Saunders. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Saunders. Mr. Saunders was a long standing and active member of Morganton Seventh Day Adventist Church, was exceedingly kind, and was always ready to volunteer. He loved to work in his garden and took care of his health.Arlie is survived by sons, Harry Saunders of Woodstock, GA and Hoyt Saunders of Morganton; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Mahorney officiating. Burial will follow at the Seventh-day Adventist Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
