Arnold Wayne Brown

Arnold Wayne Brown, 63, of Roy McGalliard Ave., Morganton, NC died Monday, May 1, 2006 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born February 27, 1943 in Burke County, NC, and was a son of Ethel Mae Arrowood Brown of Morganton and the late Julius Roy Brown, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Renee Brown; and a brother, James Ray Brown, Sr.

In addition to his mother, Arnold is survived by his wife, Shirley Hoke Brown of the home; daughters, Lisa Bissett and husband, Randall, of Falls Church, VA, and Laura Brown of Greensboro, NC; a grandson, Matthew Bissett of Falls Church, VA; brothers, Johnny E. Brown, Sr. of Valdese, NC, and Julius Roy Brown, Jr. of Concord, NC; a sister, Joan Powell and husband, Lloyd, Jr., of Drexel, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Bridgewater Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Craven officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 7:30 pm at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour.
