Arthur Dean Cox

Arthur Dean Cox, 66, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 14, 2014. He was born in McDowell County on July 16, 1947 and was the son of the late Irene Cox Rumfelt. Arthur served in the U. S. Navy, and before becoming disabled, he worked as a security guard for several companies. He enjoyed owning and working on classic muscle cars.

Arthur is survived by a son, Robert Dean Cox and his wife, Jean of Dysartsville; daughter, Melanie Cox and her fiancé, Mark West of Morganton; grandchildren, Robert Alan Cox, Joshua Cox, both of Dysartsville, Aaron Cox Tallent and Tyler Tallent, both of Morganton; great-grandchild, Ryan Tallent, his best friend, Charlie Burnette; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Pete McCombs officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. before the service.
