Arthur Dean Olsen, Sr., 61, of Owens Mountain Avenue, Icard, NC, died Monday, August 25, 2008 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC. Born in Burke County, NC on June 26, 1947, he was the son of Oliver R. Olsen, Sr. of Minneapolis, MN and the late Helen Griffin Olsen.In addition to his father, Arthur is survived by his sons, Arthur Dean Olsen, Jr. and Renee Laney, of Morganton, NC and Billy Dean Christopher Olsen and wife, Teresa, of Lenoir, NC; a daughter, Dena Ann Olsen-Parton and Joseph Laney, of Morganton; brothers, Bob Olsen and wife, Sharon, of Hickory, NC, Don Olsen and wife, Maureen, of Minnetonka, MN, Ray Olsen and wife, Darleen, of Eden Prairie, MN, Jimmy Olsen of Anoka, MN, Gary Olsen of Minneapolis, and Dale Olsen of Minneapolis; a sister, Debbie Olsen of Minneapolis; and grandchildren, Tyler, Becca, Kayla, Sam, Brooke, Jonathan, and Brianna.In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Mare Ross Dorris, and Ernest Williams.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
