Arthur "Ott" Norman

Arthur "Ott" Norman, 83, of Mt. Olive Church Road, Morganton, NC died Monday, April 12, 2010, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Burke County on April 29, 1926 and was a son of the late John and Nancy Epley Norman. Ott was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother-in-law who never met a stranger, and who enjoyed hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Grover Norman, and by a sister, Cordie Epley.Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Wilma Ward Norman, of the home; sons, Gilbert Norman and his wife, Wanda, and Jerry Lee Norman, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Steve Norman and his wife, Melanie, of Asheville, Jeff Norman and his friend, Melanie Bowden, of Morganton, and Phillip and Kevin Norman, both of Old Fort; great-grandchildren, Heath and Alysa Norman, and Hannah Bowden; a brother, John Woodrow Norman and his wife, Clara, of Morganton; and a sister, Lissie Dellinger of Rutherford County.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Sid Houk and Rev. Jack Moses officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Alpine Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. At other times the family will be at Wilma Norman’s residence.
