Audrey Jane Cook

Ms. Audrey Jane Cook, 64, of Valdese passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care after a period of declining health.  She was born May 25, 1954 in Burke County to the late Mary Campbell Cook and Wilburn Cook.  Ms. Cook grew up in Charleston SC, where she graduated from St. John’s High School on John’s Island before returning to Valdese.  Audrey received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs NC.  She worked as an adjunct instructor at Western Piedmont Community College and was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Marion, NC.

Audrey was a devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, teaching, and being with friends and family.

Ms. Cook is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth Felts and husband, Rodney, of Valdese; son Michael Allen and wife, Jessica, of Valdese; nephew, Glenn Cook, Jr. and wife, Eileen, of Moncks Corner, SC; grandchildren, Samantha Lowman and husband, Jeff, of Connelly Springs, Hope Felts and fiancée, Kyle Bagwell, of Hickory; great-granddaughters, Claudia Bagwell and Scotlynn Lowman; and a brother Glenn Cook, Sr. and wife, Betty, of John’s Island, SC.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
