Mrs. Ava Lee Brittain, 87, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 following a period of declining health. Born in June 7, 1929 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Kirby Lero Sain and Brightie Houser Sain. She was a faithful member of Mt. Home Baptist Church and served as a greeter of the church. Ava worked at Premier Hosiery, J. Iverson Riddle, and was a devoted homemaker.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brittain was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Lonnie Jerome Brittain; a son, Michael Jerome Brittain; 2 sisters, Juanita Lackey and Jessie Phillips; and 5 brothers, J.D., Conley, Perry, Leonard, and Dorsey Sain.
Ava is survived by her daughter, Judy Holland her husband, David, of Morganton; grandsons, Brian Holland and his wife, Lisa, of the Outer Banks and Mark Holland and his wife, Melissa, of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Carolann, Madison, Katelyn, Katie, and Ty; and her faithful friend and neighbor, Ardith Green.
The family will receive friends from 3 – 4 pm, Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Mt. Home Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 4 pm in the church with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
