Avis Elizabeth Suttle

Avis Elizabeth Suttle, 88, of Fallston, NC, formerly of Morganton, gained her heavenly wings on Thursday, August 9, 2018 while surrounded by her family.  Born in McDowell County, NC on February 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Roscoe Hawkins and Eva Jane Helms Hawkins.  Avis was a member of Walker Road Baptist Church.  She enjoyed fishing, sewing, making baby-dolls, and especially working in her garden.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Avis is survived by her husband, Coy Suttle of the home; children, Tim Suttles and wife, Karen, of Morganton, Benny Allen Suttle of Hickory, and Deborah Leigh Suttle of Fallston; grandchildren, Tim E. Suttles and wife, Nicole, Christy Suttles Wolfe, Joshua Suttle, and Tyler Suttle; great-grandchildren, Christian Wolfe, Conner Wolfe, Eli Wolfe, Lily Suttle, Zaylee Suttle, and Carter Suttle; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In addition to her parents, Avis was preceded in death by 3 siblings, James Hawkins, Edna Johnson, and Frankie Simpson.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastors Justin Williamson, Rocky Branch and Ricky Watkins officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.  At other times the family will be at the home of the son, Tim Suttles, 2653 Lail Road, Morganton.
