Azalee Childers Chapman

Azalee Childers Chapman, 70, of Mt. Gilead Church Road, Connelly Springs, NC, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at Grace Hospital. Born on July 8, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Childers Anthony. Azalee retired from Burke Mills, Inc. with thirty years of service. She was a loyal member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, and actively involved in the women’s Sunday school class.Mrs. Chapman is survived by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Earl Chapman of the home; children, Barbara Stewart and husband, Lee, of Morganton, NC, Sandra Bentley and husband, David, of Easley, SC, Tammy Whitmire and husband, Bill, of Pickens, SC, and Jeffery Earl Chapman of Lawndale, NC; grandchildren, Davie Bentley, Daniel Bentley, Brittany Davis, Katie Bentley, Samantha Bentley, Levi Whitmire, Taylor Stewart, and Sarah Bentley; brothers, Charles Anthony, Larry Anthony, and Rick Anthony, all of Morganton, and Donald Anthony of Monroe, NC; and sisters, Caroleen Coffey of Morganton and Wanda Deal of Taylorsville, NC.In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Diane Chapman; a grandson, Darrell Gene Davis; and a brother, Cyrus Anthony.

Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Fulbright officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 until 3 pm in the church fellowship hall. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 4064 Mt. Gilead Church Rd., Connelly Springs.
