Barbara Ann “Bob” Michael

Barbara Ann “Bob” Michael, 81, of Morganton, NC died Monday, February 8, 2016.  Born in Avery County, NC on May 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Lester Lee Cuthbertson and Margaret Jane Keller Cuthbertson.  Mrs. Michael was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher.  She retired from Burke County Public Schools and was a wonderful cook and homemaker.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Barbara is survived by her husband of 64 years, J. D. Michael of the home; a daughter, Pamela Sutton of Morganton; a son, John Michael of Morganton; granddaughters, Angela Wease, Kristina Michael, and Lynnsi Michael; great-grandsons, Cody and Michael Powers; siblings, June Rhyne and her husband, Richard, of Hickory, NC, David Cuthbertson and his wife, Dale, of Townsend, TN, and Linda Byrd and her husband, Dennis, of Morganton; a sister-in-law, Nell Cuthbertson of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Michael was preceded in death by a son, Chris Michael; and a brother, Dick Cuthbertson.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 at Zion Baptist Church.  The memorial service will follow in the church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Rose officiating.
