Barbara Ann McKinney Waters

Barbara Ann McKinney Waters, 82 of Morganton, NC passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017. She was born in McDowell County, NC on September 11, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Mitchell M. McKinney and Pearl E. Michaels McKinney. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She liked gardening and working puzzles, but especially enjoyed reading. Barbara loved going anywhere to get a milkshake.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Hayes Waters and son, Calvin Leonard Waters.
She is survived by daughter, Wanda Waters DeHart; son Mickey Allen Waters and special friend, Tina; grandchildren, Cheryl DeHart Greathouse and husband, David; Steven Waters and wife, Jennifer; Lisa Waters Greene and husband, Michael; Melissa Waters Herrick and husband, Nathan; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Devinney and Billy Keller officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
