Barbara Jean Harbison

Barbara Jean Harbison, 72, of Morganton passed away Monday, April 8, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on March 9, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Charles Lemuel Harbison, Sr. and Lula Lucille Conley Harbison.  Barbara was a member of Green Street Presbyterian Church.  She was a 1965 graduate of Olive Hill High School and earned her associate’s degree in Applied Science and Corrections.  Barbara worked at Western Carolina Center and retired from the NC Department of Corrections.

She is survived byer her brother, Charles L. Harbison (Gwen) of Morganton; sister, Willa Dean Mand of Ashland, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews; cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a brother, David M. Harbison; sisters, Irma Robinson and LaVerne Harbison; niece, Racquel Harbison; and nephews, Eprin “Speedy” Alberto, Jr., Leon A. Harbison, W. Cameron Harbison, and Charles L. Harbison, III.

The family will receive friends from 11 am to 12 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2019 at Green Street Presbyterian Church.  The funeral will be held at 12 p.m. in the church with Dr. Marla Patchel officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
