Barry Alan Whisnant, 60, of Morganton, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023.
Born in Burke County, NC on August 26, 1962, he was the son of the late Joseph Lloyd Whisnant and Loretta Ann Wiseman Whisnant. Barry lived life on his own terms. He loved his family and friends and formed life-long friendships.
Mr. Whisnant is survived by his daughters, Sabrina Whisnant Jackson (Matt) and Brandi Whisnant (Manuel); bonus kids, Robert Miller, Sommer Ellis (Sean), Crystal Ellis, and Shelby Sanchez; grandchildren, Hayden Toney, Brigitte Toney, Jeremiah Whisnant, Mercedes Moore, Jayden Moore, and Brooklyn Moore; great-grandchildren, Aniyah and Kaliyah Rutherford; sister, Aggie Collins; niece, Shelly Cash (Scott); and his beloved dogs, Rascal, Jezzy, and Sweetie Pie.
In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his companion of 21 years, Caprise Baker; brother, Carl Whisnant; sister-in-law, Diane Whisnant; and nephew, Jason Whisnant.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023 in the shelter at Lake James State Park, Paddy’s Creek Access.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
