Becky Powell Martin

Becky Powell Martin, 70, of Morganton, NC died Saturday, January 7 2012 at her residence. Born in Burke County, NC on February 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Harlin W. Powell and Mae Alice Culler Powell.Becky is survived by son, David Martin of Charlotte; a brother, Bill Powell of Morganton; sisters, Maxine Lail of Morganton, Judy Pendleton of Morganton, Joyce Powell of Winston-Salem, Sara Sherrill of Morganton, and Ruth Duckworth of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Powell; and a sister, Nancy Powell Payne.A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2012 at Glen Alpine Cemetery with Rev. Neill Shaw officiating. The family will receive friends at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home of Ruth and Jerry Duckworth on Lost Corners Road, Morganton.
