Benjamin F. "Ben" Norville

Benjamin F. “Ben” Norville, 82, of Morganton, NC died Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Born in Rutherford County, NC on August 5, 1932, he was the son of the late Thomas Crawford Norville and Mae Laughters Norville. Ben was a member and trustee of Nowlings Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Drexel Heritage Furniture Company where he was employed for 47 years. Ben loved woodworking. He traveled all over the world doing furniture repair.

A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Mr. Norville is survived by his son, Danny Ray Norville of Morganton; daughters, Jackie Lynne Norville and her fiancée, Joe Watts, and Carmen Renee Smith and her husband, Todd, of Morganton; grandchildren, James Tyler Norville, Nicholas Anderson, Joseph Watts, Keith Triplett, Jeffery Smith, Makayla Smith, Collin Smith, Trenton Smith, and Dalton Newell; great-grandchildren, Brantley Triplett, Kinley Triplett, Destiny Anderson, and Macie Anderson; brothers, Bill Norville and his wife, Linda, Roby Norville, James Norville and his wife, Carol, and Ronnie Norville; sisters, Shirley Freeman and JoAnn Cook and her husband, Howard; and a number of nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah Mae Moses Norville; his second wife, Geneva Patton Austin Norville; brothers, Paul, Ray, Silas, Thomas Crawford, George, and Donnie Norville; and sisters, Mary Lee Laughters, Addie Bea Yelton, and Carrie Mae Tessner.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Nowlings Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Darvy Hensley and the Rev. Jack Moses officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
