Bennett Long Orders, 79, of Morganton Long Term Care died Friday, December 22, 2006, at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on July 8, 1927 in Burke County, NC and was a son of the late Marvin and Beulah Wise Orders. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Lloyd Orders, and by brothers, Clyde, Harry, and Roy Orders. Mr. Orders was a U. S. Veteran and served in both the Army and the Navy, and he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a barber for many years in both Glen Alpine and Morganton.
Surviving are his sister and her husband, Leola and Tommy Turner, of Glen Alpine; brothers, Jerry Orders and his wife, Betty, and Raymond Orders and his wife, Jo, all of Glen Alpine, and Charles Orders, of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Glen Alpine Cemetery with Rev. R. L. Icard officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 234. The family will receive friends following the service at Lail Road Community Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Lail Road Community Church, PO Box 517, Glen Alpine, NC 28628. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
