Bennie Harold Deal

Bennie Harold Deal, 64, of Morganton died Saturday, October 27, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC on August 12, 1948, he was the son of the late Lathern Deal and Julie Iola Shidal Deal. Bennie retired as a Sergeant from the N.C. Army National Guard and worked for many years as a truck driver.He is survived by his long-time companion, Brenda Ross of the home; a daughter, Crystal Rhodes and her husband, Chad, of Morganton; Crystal’s mother, Peggy Cagle Deal; and a grandson, Wyatt Rhodes.In addition to his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Deal; and two sisters, Ruby Ogle and Dorothy Rector.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Solid Rock Baptist Church with the Reverends Tony Land and Stacey Layne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. At other times the family will be at the home of his daughter, Crystal, 4459 Willowood Drive, Morganton.
