Bennie Ray Greene

Bennie Ray Greene, 77, of Morganton, NC, gained his heavenly wings Monday, December 9, 2024.

Born in Rocky Mount, NC on November 22, 1947, to the late Rufus Ray Greene and Hazel Edwards Greene.

Bennie was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church. He retired from the Maintenance Department of Broughton Hospital. Bennie was a kind-hearted man who loved life, loved taking his family camping at the beach, dancing, and eastern barbeque.

A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Bennie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Shull Greene; son, Benjie Greene (Angela); daughters, Melissa Greene Carr (Isaac) and Katie Greene Phipps; grandchildren, Julian Carr, Lacey Causby, Adam Greene, Amanda Singleton, Zachary Greene, Zoe Phipps, Rhiannon Greene, Angelica Carr, and Prella Carr Matthews; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Thurston Greene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin McSheffrey; two brothers, Preston and Gene; and a sister, Alice.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
