Bernice "Joan" Hildebran

Bernice "Joan" Hildebran, 60, of Morganton, NC died unexpectedly Friday, July 15, 2011 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville. Born in Buncombe County, NC on June 20, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Perry Powell, Jr. and Ethel Margaret Wheeler Powell. Joan was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed doing her oil paintings for her family. She always had a positive attitude about life and always looked for the good in everyone.A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Joan is survived by her husband, Darrell Hildebran of the home; a son, Reese Fox and wife, Tanya, of Marion, NC; daughters, Candy Fox-Hollifield and husband, Michael, of Marion, NC and Lisa Fox of Glen Alpine; six grandchildren; brothers, Harrell Powell and Ray Powell, both of Glen Alpine; and sisters, Kathy Boone of Glen Alpine and Ruby Long of Morrison, IL.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Danny McNeeley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Following the service at the cemetery, friends may gather at the home of Harrell Powell, 3349 Lytle Drive, Morganton. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
