Bernice Tallent DeVinney

Bernice Tallent DeVinney, 84, of Morganton passed away on Monday, June 15, 2018.  Born in Burke County, NC on May 20, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Aaron A. Tallent and Lula Mae McClurd Tallent.  Bernice had attended Mt. Home Baptist Church.  She retired from Drexel Heritage with over 38 years of service at Plant #7.  She also worked at HandiCare for over 10 years.

A loving mother and grandmother, Bernice is survived by her son, Brian K. DeVinney of Morganton; daughter, Pamela Leigh Reams of Morganton; grandchildren, Kenneth Tolley and Christopher DeVinney; great-granddaughter, Hedie Harris; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee DeVinney; brother, Wayne A. Tallent; and a granddaughter, Carol Hembree.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 23 at Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating.
