Bertie E. Michaels

Bertie E. Michaels, 83, of College Pines Nursing Center, Valdese, NC, died Monday, September 1, 2008. Born June 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Grant Edwards and Gertrude Mae Cuthbertson Edwards. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Bertie was loved by all that knew her and will be greatly missed.The family wishes to thank College Pines for their tender, loving care, and Bertie loved, and was loved, by everyone there.Bertie is survived by her son, Sammy Flynn and wife, Mae, of Nebo, NC; a daughter-in-law, Diane Flynn of Jefferson, NC; a brother, Roy Edwards and wife, Vergie, of Nebo; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Flynn, Sr.; second husband, Walter C. Michaels; son, John Flynn, Jr.; brother, Herman Edwards, and a sister, Rosa Lee Jaynes.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. George Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. before the service.
