Bertie Singleton Scott

Bertie Singleton Scott, 92, of Lenoir Rd., Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 14, 2007 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born November 9, 1914 in Avery County, NC, and was a daughter of the late John Calvin Singleton and Laura Weatherman Singleton. Bertie was a member of the House of Praise in Morganton. She was a retired LPN from Watauga Hospital in Boone, NC, and for many years worked at the Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nevada.Bertie is survived by a sister, Dollie Clark of Morganton, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughters, Rosa Lee Franklin and Alda Franklin; and a son, James Franklin.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Reverends Terry Adams and Burt Hutto officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday in the George H. Barrier Cemetery at Jonas Ridge, NC. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 until 11 am at the funeral home.
