Bertina “Bo” Carswell Seagle

Bertina “Bo” Carswell Seagle, 82, of Morganton, NC passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.  Born in Burke County, NC on August 25, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Andrew Carswell and Mary Rotis Poteet Carswell.  She was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church.

Bertina retired from the Burke County School System, having worked at Forest Hill and Glen Alpine Elementary Schools.  She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, was an avid Bingo player, and was an Atlanta Braves fan.  She loved spending time with all her friends.

Bertina is survived by her son, Steven Seagle and his wife, Amy, of Morganton; daughters, Janet S. Harrison and Norma S. Ollis, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Caroline Seagle, Caitlin Seagle and her fiancé, Perry Milligan, Seth Harrison and his wife, Christina, Emily Harrison, Sarah Harrison, and Blair Wakefield; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Pee Wee Carswell and Gray Carswell; and a number of nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

In addition to her parents, Bertina was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Ted Norman Seagle; brothers, Charles Carswell, Jr., Leonard Carswell, Nun Carswell, and J.D. Carswell; sisters, Azalie Brittain, Mary Etta Pittillo, and Elva Digh; and a son-in-law, Tom Harrison.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 24, 2015 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Burkemont Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at the church at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. David Mills officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
