Bessie Wilhelmina Mull

Bessie Wilhelmina Mull, 96, of Morganton, NC went home to be with her family on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Morganton Long Term Care following several years of declining health. Born in Burke County on December 31, 1919, she was the youngest child of the late Sidney Augustus “Gus” Mull and Ida Shuping Mull. Bessie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ervin Mull; sisters, Myra Deal and Katherine Mull; and half-brothers, Carl and Willard Mull.

Bessie was a music lover who played guitar with her family groups, and also sang for many years with The Choraleers at the Senior Citizens Center. She was a lover of nature and spent as much time as possible working outdoors at her home. Bessie fed all animals that came into her yard including honey bees. She was a retired Supervisor in the Dietary Department of Broughton Hospital.

Miss Mull is survived by several nephews and nieces.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Mt. Home Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorial gifts may be made to a donors charity of choice. Her family thanks everyone who helped care for Bessie in recent years. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
