Betsy Arrowood

Betsy Arrowood, 67, of Morganton gave up her courageous battle with cancer on Monday, June 14, 2010 and went to be with her Lord. She was born November 29, 1942 in Burke County, and was the daughter of the late Ernest "Country" Arrowood, Sr. and Carrie Smith Arrowood. Betsy was first employed at the North Carolina School for the Deaf, Kathy Hosiery in Valdese, and later worked as a secretary at Masterpiece Art and Frame. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant license, and worked for Foothills Detox and several nursing homes.Betsy is survived by a son, David Gary Throneburg, Jr. and wife, Sandy of Morganton; a daughter, Selena Wagner and husband, Mike of Morganton; grandchildren, Trey, Caitlyn, and Trevor Throneburg, and Zack and Heather Wagner; a brother, Richard S. Arrowood and wife, Norida of Morganton; nephew, Brian Arrowood; nieces, April Henderson, Sonya Carpenter, and Angela Williams; her former husband and the father of her children, Gary Throneburg, Sr.; and her faithful canine companion, Bandit.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Arrowood, Jr.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Doug St. John officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour before the service.
