Betty Allen Hamrick, 88, of Valdese, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
Born in Spartanburg County, SC on July 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William Heyward Allen and Jean Coley Allen.
Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Morganton. Betty loved her Lord and Savior, her family, and her church family. She enjoyed reading, shopping, traveling, jewelry, and cats. She spent her time volunteering with church events, including mission trips. Betty had a heart for the youth and was known for making brownies for her church family and friends. She worked for 27 years at Western Carolina Center, and she loved her residents.
Betty is survived by her brother, Benny Allen; twin-sister, Barbara Allen; godson, Nathan Turner (Anna); best friend, Lynn Turner (Wayne); special friend and caregiver, Chesley Lee; brother-in-law, William Hamrick; sisters-in-law, Rachel Dover (Paul), Maxine Williams (Johnny), and Sara Weaver (Reg); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hamrick; and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Hamrick and Karen Allen.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024 at First Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the church with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. and Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Interment of the cremations remains will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
